Located at Calçada Cruz da Pedra, nº 44, in Lisbon.
Built in the early 17th century, during the reign of D. Filipe II of Portugal, to serve the Commandresses of the Order of Santiago. The building suffered damage in the 1755 earthquake but was later recovered.
After the extinction of religious orders in 1834, the convent was occupied by various institutions, such as the Escola Primária Superior de D. António da Costa and the Instituto Sidónio Pais. Currently, it is owned by the Recolhimentos.
The convent, although imposing, was never fully completed. The large cloister with a square plan stands out, composed of galleries of perfect arches. The chapels of Senhor dos Passos and Encarnação, located in the cloister, feature gilded carvings, statuary, and tiles.
The church has a single nave with five side chapels. It is decorated with gilded carvings, colored marbles, and tile panels, notably those that portray episodes from the lives of the Holy Martyrs.
The Convent of Santos-o-Novo is classified as a Property of Public Interest. This classification includes the church, the cloister, the other dependencies, and the landscaped areas around the convent.
