The Ultramar Garden is located in the Espargal urbanization, a residential area integrated into the town of Caxias, in the municipality of Oeiras. Its position makes it a green reference point and an accessible space for residents and visitors to this area. It is a setting that offers tranquility within an urban context.
With an approximate area of 0.4 hectares, this is a garden of a welcoming size, designed to offer an environment of calm and relaxation. It is not a vast park, but rather a concise space, where the atmosphere invites moments of pause and enjoyment of gentle contact with nature. It is a simple refuge, ideal for those seeking tranquility.
In the Ultramar Garden, some palm trees stand out, their presence conferring a particular atmosphere to the place, adding an exotic touch to the landscape. Its paths, paved with cobblestones, invite quiet walks and leisurely strolls, allowing for pleasant exploration of the space and enjoyment of the shade provided by the vegetation.
The garden's name, "Jardim do Ultramar" (Overseas Garden), evokes a significant period in Portuguese history, referring to the country's connection to its overseas territories. Although the space is primarily intended for leisure and daily enjoyment, its toponym invites reflection on the past and on the cultural and historical heritage that shapes Portugal's identity, even in the context of an urban garden.
