The Junqueiro Garden is integrated into the residential area of Junqueiro, a quiet and tree-lined area in Carcavelos, belonging to the municipality of Cascais. Its position within the urban fabric offers a point of serenity and well-being, accessible to those who live nearby or are looking for a moment of pause in this area.
This green space was designed to meet a long-felt need by the local community. Its creation resulted from the persistent commitment of residents, who for about twenty years advocated for the transformation of an urban area into a public garden. Its opening to the public in 2015 marked the realization of a community desire, providing a new "green patch" and a leisure spot in the Junqueiro area.
A notable aspect of this garden is its strong community character, visible since its conception. During the creation process, residents were given the opportunity to choose the name for the space. This initiative highlights the population's involvement, making the garden a direct reflection of the neighborhood's aspirations and participatory spirit. The name Jardim das Iúcas was one of the suggestions that emerged from this collaborative process.
The Junqueiro Garden is an invitation to enjoy a peaceful and welcoming environment. As an urban green space, it offers an area for short walks and moments of outdoor relaxation. It is a place designed to provide a refuge from the urban routine, where one can appreciate the presence of vegetation and benefit from the tranquility that a well-maintained garden provides. Its configuration invites a serene experience, ideal for those seeking a moment of introspection or a break in contact with nature.
