Location

Chillout Garden is located in a contemporary area of Lisbon, within an urban setting characterised by modern buildings and recently developed green spaces. The garden sits slightly below street level, creating a sense of separation from the surrounding city environment.

Around the space, contemporary buildings with geometric façades and vertical lines frame the landscape. In the background, a series of structures with curved roofs and pale walls stand out, adding visual character and reflecting the blend of industrial heritage and modern urban design present in the area.

Structure and layout

The garden is designed across several levels, with gently winding paths and planted areas that follow the natural slope of the terrain. The vegetation consists mainly of young trees and ornamental shrubs arranged along pedestrian walkways and landscaped sections.

One of the most noticeable elements is a raised metal walkway crossing the garden. This elevated structure connects different parts of the space and provides a viewpoint over the greenery below. Its presence adds visual movement and reinforces the calm, walkable character of the area.

Atmosphere and landscape

Although situated in a busy urban environment, Chillout Garden offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The vegetation, open layout and meandering paths help create a quiet setting within the city.

Planted beds and young trees contrast with the surrounding urban materials, including the light coloured concrete seating and borders that define parts of the garden. Several trees are supported by wooden frames, indicating the recent development of the landscaped area and the gradual growth of its vegetation.

Architectural and visual elements

The garden incorporates subtle architectural features that contribute to its identity. Light coloured concrete benches form simple, continuous lines along parts of the space, offering resting areas integrated naturally into the landscape design.

Beyond the garden, the view includes natural embankments and visible urban infrastructure in the distance, such as railway lines and modern residential buildings. This setting creates a layered landscape where urban nature, contemporary architecture and traces of industrial structures coexist within the same environment.
