The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is located in the Avenidas Novas area of Lisbon, near Praça de Espanha, and occupies a block surrounded by Avenidas de Berna, António Augusto de Aguiar and Rua Marquês de Sá da Bandeira.
Inaugurated in 1969, the Foundation's headquarters building is a striking example of modernist architecture in Portugal. Designed by Portuguese architects, it houses administrative services, several performance halls, conference and exhibition spaces, and is a dynamic cultural center.
With a capacity of 1300 people, the Grand Auditorium is the main venue for concerts, plays, conferences and other cultural events at the Foundation.
The museum, which is part of the complex, exhibits the art collection assembled by Calouste Gulbenkian throughout his life. The exhibition is divided into two main areas: Oriental and Classical Art, and European Art, with pieces of great historical and artistic value.
Inaugurated in 1983 and dedicated to José de Azeredo Perdigão, this space in the Gulbenkian Park is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, with a collection that includes works by Portuguese and international artists.
One of Lisbon's most important green spaces, the Gulbenkian Park was created in the 1960s and is a prominent example of modern landscape architecture in Portugal. It is an ideal place for walks and relaxation, with lakes, nooks and a wide variety of plant species.
The garden integrates sculptures and contemporary works of art, providing an outdoor cultural environment. It is a space frequented by thousands of people daily, being a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.
This space within the garden honors the landscape architect who designed the park, offering the public a deeper understanding of the garden's conception through multimedia resources.
The complex that includes the headquarters building, the museum and the park received the Valmor Prize in 1975 and was classified as a National Monument in 2010, standing out as one of Portugal's main contemporary cultural heritages.
