Location and History

- Located on Avenida José Malhoa, Figueiró dos Vinhos.

- Built by the painter José Malhoa around 1893 as his residence and studio.

Architecture

- Composed of two bodies connected in a T shape.

- Includes a small ground-floor house initially built and later a larger house designed by the architect Luiz Ernesto Reynaud in 1898.

- Architectural details such as walls covered with lime mortar and decorative elements in tiles by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro.

Interior

- Highlights include the dining room with wood paneling and a ceiling with exposed beams.

- Original furniture, such as the dining table commissioned by Malhoa and period decorations.

Artistic Collection

- Originally had niches for works by artists who were friends of Malhoa.

- Currently houses a collection of works offered by the Schools of Fine Arts of Lisbon and Porto since 1990.

Garden

- Includes an old pergola and an iron bench contemporary to the painter, as well as a lake.

Present Day and Visits

- Has undergone several adaptations over the years and was rehabilitated in 1985 and 2013.

- Designated Property of Cultural Value and Municipal Interest since 1982.

- Open to the public for visits, including a small Chess Museum in the cellars since 2013.
