It is located in the parish of Melo and Nabais, in the municipality of Gouveia, district of Guarda, Portugal.
Built in the 16th century, the Pillory of Melo symbolizes the dignity of the former county seat that Melo was until 1834.
Made of stone, the pillory has five quadrangular steps. The main body is faceted, with different volumetric levels and displays a Portuguese shield with the five quinas (small shields).
At the top, there is a small iron cross.
Classified as a National Monument since 1915.
