District: Guarda > Guarda > Guarda > Judiária
Located in Largo João de Almeida, in front of the Misericórdia Church.
Granted to the city in 1199 by D. Sancho I, when Guarda received its charter. It disappeared in the 19th century and was later found in the Sanctuary of Senhor Jesus do Bonfim, being reinstalled in its current location in the second half of the 20th century.
Built in granite, the Pillory has a base and shaft with eight sides. At the top, a cross that originally belonged to a cross was added to the capital, although the date of this modification is unknown.
