Located north of the village of Coriscada, the Fonte do Chão da Cruz is an architectural treasure worth visiting.
This fountain, with its dipping Baroque architecture, was probably built in the late 18th century. An interesting detail is the fleuron above the opening, where a scallop shell can be seen, possibly indicating the passage of one of the paths of Santiago.
The main function of this fountain was to provide fresh water to working animals passing through. Imagine travelers stopping to refresh their animals as they continued their journey.
Around the fountain, you will find a granite cross, adding a special touch to the place. It is a unique opportunity to appreciate the historical richness of the region.
Stay tuned, as according to records, the site is undergoing a redevelopment process. This means that soon you will be able to enjoy this charming space even more.
