Quinta do Lago Beach is located in the Parque Atlântico area, in Almancil, which belongs to the municipality of Loulé. It acts as a natural frontier between the ocean and the lagoon area of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, providing a setting where the sand meets the fresh water of the estuary before reaching the sea.
With an approximate length of 3.5 kilometres, the beach offers a vast stretch of soft, white sand. It is bordered by a well-preserved dune system that contributes to the natural beauty of the place. The beach's size ensures that, even on the busiest days, it's possible to find more secluded areas simply by walking a little further.
One of the most distinctive features of Quinta do Lago Beach is its main access point: a long wooden footbridge. Approximately 300 metres long, this bridge crosses an arm of the Ria Formosa, offering panoramic views over the lagoon landscape during the crossing and serving as an icon associated with the beach.
The beach is located within an area of high ecological value, forming an integral part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. This natural environment allows for the observation of the characteristic biodiversity of this ecosystem, including various bird species and, with some luck, spotting the common chameleon in the dunes or coastal vegetation.
In addition to relaxing on the sand, Quinta do Lago Beach is suitable for various activities. The waters, generally calm, invite the practice of water sports. For those who prefer to stay on land, the extensive beachfront and the trails in the vicinity of Ria Formosa are excellent for walks and strolls in contact with nature. The beach has surveillance during the bathing season and holds the Blue Flag distinction, attesting to its environmental quality.
