Slave Market - Route of Enslavement Museum Nucleus

English: The building with the double arch once housed the slave market in town of Lagos, Algarve, Portugal. The building is located on the Praça Infante Dom Henrique and is classified as a monument of public interest. It was built in 1691 although the trade in slaves from Africa began on this sight in the mid fifteenth century and from here slaves were shipped throughout Europe at great profit to the Portuguese monarchy and merchants of lagos.
