The Parish Church of Paderne is located in Paderne, in the municipality of Albufeira, in the south of Portugal, more specifically in the district of Faro.
The church is an important religious monument, also known as the Church of Our Lady of Hope (Igreja da Senhora da Esperança).
The Parish Church of Paderne has been classified as a Property of Public Interest (Imóvel de Interesse Público) since 2002, recognizing its historical and architectural importance.
The church was built in the 16th century to serve the new location of the town of Paderne. Originally consisting of three naves, four bays, an apse, and two side chapels, it underwent renovations throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, including the addition of side chapels for the local confraternities.
The church features a Renaissance style with Manueline elements, evident in the stonework of the capitals, in the vaulting of one of the chapels, and in the triumphal arch.
Inside the church, one can find several altarpieces, a chalice decorated with a spherical knot in the Renaissance style, and wooden sculptures from the 17th and 18th centuries. A highlight is a Baroque sculpture of the Archangel Saint Michael.
Opposite the church is the Paderne Parish House, a building related to the church which can also be visited by tourists.
