Location

Parque de São João is located in Seixo, within the municipality of Mira, surrounded by an extensive pine forest that runs alongside the village's main road. It is slightly set back from the houses, ensuring a tranquil refuge, yet remains within easy walking distance of the center.

The tall canopies of the pine trees create a verdant setting, with generous shade and a marked contrast between the wooded area and the surrounding rural landscape.

Natural Environment

The ground, covered with a carpet of pine needles, imparts a characteristic fragrance to the air and muffles the sound of footsteps. Small patches of low-lying scrub add diversity, while the gentle sway of the branches invites moments of contemplation.

Gravel paths delineate an easy-to-follow circuit, ideal for calm strolls, accompanied by the sound of the wind through the leaves.

Leisure Facilities

Inside the park, there is a covered pavilion equipped with wood-fired barbecue grills, designed for preparing meats and grilled dishes in a social setting. Nearby, an outdoor space houses a stone fountain adorned with tiles, from which fresh water flows.

Scattered throughout the park, wooden tables and benches provide places for rest and gathering, complementing the outdoor experience and facilitating family or group meals.

Cultural and Historical Value

This park is the stage for collective memories, having hosted generations of families for picnics and village festivals. The continuity of these practices reinforces the bond between the inhabitants of Seixo and their green retreat.

As one walks the paths and enjoys the rustic pavilions, the social role of the space in local life is recognized, perpetuating traditions of sharing and conviviality.
