Situated in the heart of the village of Miranda do Corvo, the Town Hall occupies a central and prominent position. Its main facade opens onto a wider area of the village, while at the back of the building lies the Alheda river, accompanied by a garden. From this point, it is possible to observe the elevation of the Calvário, a site where a castle once stood and where today the Church of São Salvador rises, complementing the urban landscape.
The Town Hall houses an important element of local heritage: the original pillory of Miranda do Corvo. This monument, dating from the first quarter of the 16th century, is contemporary with the charter granted by D. Manuel in 1514, which established the rights and duties of the community and marked municipal autonomy. Although its initial location has been altered, its presence in the municipal building underscores the long administrative and judicial history of the municipality. In front of the Town Hall, a replica of this pillory can be seen, created in 2006 to celebrate the 870th anniversary of the village's first charter.
The Town Hall building is cohesively integrated into the historic center of Miranda do Corvo, an urban nucleus that maintains its identity over time. Its architecture dialogues with the surrounding old houses, resisting transformations and preserving the integrity of the ensemble. The construction of the Town Hall reflects a harmonious relationship with the natural elements of its surroundings, such as the river and the hillside, and integrates into the cobblestone streets that characterize the heart of the village, offering a perspective of the evolution of the space over the centuries.
