Praia Nova is located in the town of Apúlia, part of the municipality of Esposende. This bathing area is situated within the urban area that shares its name, "Praia Nova", and is integrated into the vast protected landscape of the North Coast Natural Park. Its position on the Esposende coast offers a direct view of the Atlantic Ocean, serving as a meeting point between the natural coastal environment and the discreet presence of constructions that make up the urban surroundings.
Characterized by a dune system that gently extends eastward, merging with the coastal forest, Praia Nova exhibits a natural beauty that fits within the framework of the North Coast Natural Park. The sandy beach, which reveals itself as vast during low tide, invites long strolls along the shoreline, allowing visitors to appreciate the expanse of the coast. The coexistence of nature and some traditional houses near the beach gives it a unique atmosphere, where it is sometimes possible to observe small artisanal fishing boats resting on the sand.
One of Praia Nova's distinctive features is the jetty that delimits it to the north. This structure, along with the beach's predominant southwest orientation, creates a microclimate of greater shelter. Thanks to this geographical configuration, the beach benefits from natural protection, remaining more sheltered even on days when the northerly winds, known as "nortadas", are more intense. This characteristic makes Praia Nova an inviting place for those seeking a calmer and more protected environment by the sea.
