The Pillory of Prado is located in the parish of Vila de Prado, in the municipality of Vila Verde, district of Braga, Portugal.
After the extinction of the municipality of Prado, the pillory was sold at auction and acquired by different buyers, except for the dome, which was preserved next to the old prison and court, on Rua Direita. In 1911, the Municipal Council decided to transfer the Pillory to Campo do Dr. Lima, where the Annual São Sebastião Fair took place. Only in 1980 was it moved to its current location.
The Pillory of Prado has been considered a Property of Public Interest since 1933.
The Pillory is made of granite and has a platform supported on a platform of two square steps, over a circular plinth. The column has a ring at the base, a smooth cylindrical shaft, inspired by the Tuscan style, and a circular capital adorned with plant motifs.
The top of the Pillory has a prismatic block with Manueline decoration, containing a crowned national shield, a half armillary sphere and the arms of the Sousa family and the village. This block is surmounted by a platform with four pinnacles at the corners and a central pinnacle, the latter being larger and having an iron cross embedded at the top.
