Built in 1722 by the Archbishop of Braga, D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles, to house sinful women converted to God.
It received this distinction in 2012, recognizing its historical and cultural value.
Located in the parish of São Victor, city and municipality of Braga, in Portugal.
It presents characteristics of the Baroque style, with whitewashed walls and granite stonework in the ornamental details.
Unfortunately, the building is partially abandoned and in a state of degradation.
Currently it belongs to the Ministry of Internal Administration, with ongoing negotiations for the transfer of ownership to the Intermunicipal Community of Cávado.
The building has two floors that surround a U-shaped patio, with cells and service dependencies. The main facade stands out with a rectangular tower and the rectangular-plan chapel, composed of a single nave, choir with oratory, chancel, and sacristy.
The nave walls are covered with single-figure tiles, and the ceiling is painted with angels and hagiological elements. The Baroque gilded carved altarpiece occupies the center of the chancel.
The classification as a Property of Public Interest was published in the Diário da República on November 7, 2012.
