Location

Leonte Waterfall is located in the parish of Vilar da Veiga, in the municipality of Terras de Bouro. It is deeply integrated into the mountainous landscape of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, a protected natural area of great importance.

Its position near Portela de Leonte, along the road leading to the border at Portela do Homem, gives it a unique setting in the high mountains, surrounded by a wild and preserved natural environment.

The Waterfall

This natural formation is characterized by the abrupt drop of water, which plunges from a prominent granitic rock. The force of the water, still in its origins, helps to shape the local landscape, creating a dynamic natural scenery.

At the point where the water impacts, a lagoon of clear waters forms, an aspect that complements the scenic beauty of the waterfall and invites contemplation of the surrounding environment.

A Natural Haven

The environment around Leonte Waterfall is predominantly marked by the imposing presence of granite and the lush, typical mountain vegetation. The combination of constantly moving water and rugged topography creates an atmosphere of tranquility and isolation.

This location offers a privileged vantage point to appreciate the strength and beauty of natural elements, providing an immersive experience in the characteristic landscape of the Gerês region.
