The white facade with ochre frames, ceramic tiles, and wooden window frames follows the traditional Alentejo style and stands out in the urban front. The building opens onto a cobblestone street. On the exterior wall, there is a panel with a stylized portrait of Eunice Muñoz and an evocative plaque, elements that immediately identify the space and mark the tribute of her hometown to the actress.

Origin and Significance

Inaugurated in October 2021, the Casa da Memória (House of Memory) was created to celebrate the life and work of Eunice Muñoz, born in Amareleja in 1928, a major figure in theater, cinema, and television in Portugal. The project originated from the Parish Council, with the collaboration of family members and the support of the Moura Municipal Council and cultural institutions. The aim is to preserve the artist's connection to the village where she was born and to share essential moments of her career with the public. The chosen space does not correspond to her birth house but was adapted to serve this function of memory and dissemination.

Contents and Exhibition Route

Inside, personal and stage items, photographs, posters, scripts, and press clippings are presented. Audiovisual materials with excerpts from performances, interviews, and documentaries, provided by public and museum entities, are available. The exhibitions are temporary and are updated, maintaining focus on the different periods of Eunice Muñoz's career and the impact the actress had on Portuguese performing arts.

Architecture and Ambiance

The building preserves the local aesthetic with whitewashed walls, ochre friezes, and softly arched openings. The wooden door with discreet hardware and the grid windows give rhythm to the facade. The ensemble integrates into an urban fabric of human scale and a tranquil environment. Outdoors, the panel with the actress's image serves as a discreet photographic spot. The stone pavement and the simple volume reinforce the serene character of the place, suitable for a leisurely visit attentive to detail.
