Praia do Areínho is located on the south bank of the Ria de Aveiro, in the parish of Furadouro, municipality of Ovar. Nestled next to the national road, it presents itself as a tranquil corner, surrounded by riparian vegetation and vestiges of traditional salt pans.
The sandy area extends in a cove format, with shallow waters that recede considerably at low tide, forming a calm water mirror ideal for contemplating the comings and goings of boats in the estuary.
The horizon is dominated by the green banks of the estuary and patches of reeds by the water. On clear days, scattered clouds are reflected on the limpid surface, reinforcing the sense of serenity.
The fine and smooth sand edge contrasts with the exposed mudflats, where small aquatic birds and traces of fauna typical of lagoon areas can be observed.
The environment preserves a rustic character, marked by the absence of commercial structures or lifeguard supervision. The silence is interrupted only by the sound of water and the chirping of birds.
Some wooden picnic tables encourage lingering to enjoy a moment of rest by the estuary, as the passage of the day alters the tones on the sand and in the water.
A wooden walkway connects the sandy area to a small building by the bank, creating a photographic spot appreciated by visitors. The shadows of the latticework are imprinted on the floor when the sun glints on the estuary.
Nearby, traces of old containment structures suggest the area's long relationship with salt exploitation, giving the space a historical touch.
