Vagueira Beach (North) is located on the coast of the municipality of Vagos, integrated into the locality of Praia da Vagueira. It is an oceanic beach bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Its position north of the more central area of Vagueira offers a broader perspective of the coast.
Its natural surroundings extend eastward, where cultivated fields and the Ria de Aveiro can be seen, creating a contrast with the maritime environment and offering a diverse landscape for those exploring the area.
This coastal stretch is characterized by a very extensive sandy area, extending for about 1.8 kilometers. The dunes are a predominant element in the landscape, contributing to the natural beauty of the place, although they are also sensitive to coastal erosion. The sea in this area, often rough, is appreciated by water sports enthusiasts.
The fishing tradition remains alive at Vagueira Beach. It is possible to observe the practice of Arte Xávega, an artisanal fishing method that involves the use of nets cast into the sea and pulled ashore. Formerly, this task was carried out with the aid of oxen teams; nowadays, tractors replace the animals, but the essence of this cultural activity and the community's connection to the sea remain visible.
Vagueira Beach (North) is a place that reflects a commitment to environmental quality. This concern is recognized through awards such as the Blue Flag and the Golden Beach distinction, awarded by Quercus. These recognitions attest to the quality of its waters and the effort in preserving the coastal ecosystem.
