Murtosa Municipal Park is located in the Saldida area, in the parish of Monte, within the municipality of Murtosa. This space was carefully planned to act as a green link, connecting the urban centers of Pardelhas-Monte and Murtosa. It is strategically situated, offering a meeting point between these areas and enriching the local urban landscape.
Its integration into the local fabric allows easy access for those seeking a natural and recreational area, embedded within the village environment.
The park stands out for its vast green area, complemented by a large lake at its southern end. The lake's shores are naturally adorned with a variety of herbaceous and shrubby plants, including willows, which contribute to the beauty and diversity of the local ecosystem.
This aquatic environment and the surrounding vegetation create a suitable habitat for various bird species. It is common to observe coots, mallards, and moorhens gliding on the water's surface. Swallows and swifts also fly over the lake in low flights, searching for insects. Small islands of vegetation within the lake serve as refuge and nesting sites for some of these birds, making the park an interesting spot for wildlife observation in an urban context.
Murtosa Municipal Park offers a range of infrastructures designed for leisure and sports activities. Visitors have access to tennis courts, a multi-sports court, and an athletics track, ideal for different sports. For the enjoyment of the younger ones, there is a children's playground and, for wheeled sports enthusiasts, a skate park.
There is also a dedicated picnic area, allowing visitors to enjoy meals and social moments outdoors. It is planned that the park will soon be enhanced with the introduction of a mini-golf course and swimming pools, further expanding the range of activities available on site.
More than just a leisure space, Murtosa Municipal Park represented a significant urban transformation in the Saldida area. Its development projected an image of modernity and significantly contributed to improving the quality of life for residents. The park is often referred to as a "green heart," emphasizing its central value to the community.
The site was planned to be an accessible point of interest, ensuring that all visitors, regardless of their mobility conditions, can fully enjoy its facilities and natural environment.
