The works included the cleaning and re-naturalization of the Aguieira Stream, which was in poor condition, as well as the recovery of its banks. Today, it is an environmentally sustainable and inviting space, demonstrating a strong commitment to the preservation of natural heritage.
The banks of the Aguieira Stream were carefully modeled, with the planting of native trees and shrubs and the use of live stakes to stabilize the soil. These natural engineering techniques not only restored the integrity of the watercourse but also promoted the valorization of the landscape and local biodiversity. Existing stone walls, the weir, and fish ramps were also recovered, contributing to the vitality of the fluvial ecosystem and the creation of natural habitats for native animal species.
Boiça Park houses the House of Rivers and a Rivers Laboratory, facilities that serve educational and environmental promotion purposes.
