The Conde de Sucena Garden occupies a triangular space in the center of Águeda, along Avenida Dr. Joaquim de Melo, in an area where moderate urban traffic coexists with pedestrian walkways.
The Portuguese pavement flooring surrounds lawns and landscaped areas, integrating harmoniously into the surrounding urban fabric.
This space was dedicated to José Rodrigues de Sucena, a count created by decree of D. Carlos I on September 9, 1904, a title that is now extinct.
Prominently, a bronze bust stands on a stone plinth, bearing the inscription “Tribute from the people of Águeda to the benevolent Count of Sucena”, commemorating the historical figure to whom the garden pays homage.
The vegetation combines dense-canopy trees with reddish-toned shrubs, lending chromatic diversity to the space.
