Located in São Paio de Oleiros, in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, Jacinto, Azevedo & Santos Lda is situated in an area with a strong local identity. The building is set within an urban context marked by its proximity to elements of community life and religious traditions, which lends it a serene atmosphere characteristic of the northern region of the country.
The area where the factory is located stands out for its calm environment and easy pedestrian access, inviting a more relaxed visit. Although it is an industrial facility, its location reveals a careful integration with its surroundings, offering an interesting balance between manufacturing activity and the pace of a small locality.
Better known as the headquarters of the Cavalinho brand, the Jacinto, Azevedo & Santos Lda factory has a long history associated with the national production of leather goods and alternative materials. It is here that many of the pieces recognized for their quality and distinctive design are created, with a special emphasis on wallets and personal accessories.
This space serves as the brand's nerve center, concentrating not only production but also part of product development. Attention to detail and the valuing of Portuguese manufacturing are two of the traits that define the company's identity, which has become a reference in the sector.
For several years, the space was also home to one of the largest moving nativity scenes in the country, an installation that gathered thousands of visitors during the Christmas season. This large-scale nativity scene, with constantly moving mechanical components, gained local and national notoriety for its level of detail and creativity.
Although it is no longer available for visits, the impact of this initiative remains in the memory of those who passed through São Paio de Oleiros at that time, often referred to as one of the emotional landmarks of the place. The Christmas tradition, even if physically absent, still marks the symbolic connection between the factory and the community.
Despite being a production-focused space, the factory is often described as well-organized and welcoming, with an atmosphere that surprises visitors with its attention to detail and the friendliness of its staff. An external visit, even if only from the outside, allows for a direct perception of the importance this place holds within the industrial and social context of the parish.
It is a clear example of how a factory structure can maintain a close connection with the territory where it is located, respecting the local scale and contributing to its identity.
