Situated in the northern part of the historical center of Oliveira de Azeméis, the church is elevated on a small hill, accessible by a staircase.
The church has a wide and sober facade, with a portal flanked by pilasters and a central niche with the image of Saint Michael fighting the demon. The two bell towers have dome-shaped roofs.
The nave is wide, with a white stucco decorated ceiling. The space is in Baroque style, notable for its gilded altarpieces and religious images. The high altar, in gilded wood carvings, was crafted by Luís Pereira Costa in 1731.
The interior of the church is decorated with impressive altarpieces, including one of the Crucified Christ and another of Our Lady of the Rosary. The chancel contains an altarpiece with refined details and a painting of the Resurrection of Christ.
The facade of the church is decorated with blue and white tiles, representing crosses of Christ, added at the beginning of the 20th century.
The church was built between 1719 and 1729. Over the centuries, it underwent several modifications, including the construction of a high choir in the 19th century and the addition of tiles to the facade.
The church is an impressive example of Baroque architecture, with emphasis on the gilded wood carvings and altarpieces. Furthermore, it offers a panoramic view over the surrounding area, providing a peaceful place for contemplation.
