The church was built at the end of the 19th century and inaugurated on October 27, 1901. It replaced an older temple that was demolished.
The church's facade is decorated with blue and white tiles, featuring a triangular pediment and a niche inside. The bell tower, with a spire also covered in tiles, stands out in the landscape.
Despite being a 20th-century church, its interior is very valuable, with various artistic elements from the 17th century. Highlights include the Baroque altarpieces and Mannerist paintings that come from the former Convent of Santa Ana in Coimbra.
The church has several wooden sculptures, including figures such as Saint Anne, the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint Anthony, and Our Lady of the Conception. There is also an ivory image of Christ Crucified.
The main altarpiece occupies the chancel and is accompanied by paintings and altarpieces in the side chapels. The walls of these chapels are covered with Mannerist-style paintings, also from the Convent of Santa Ana.
The church is considered an important heritage of the region, not only for its architecture but also for the richness of the works of art it houses, making it a point of interest for lovers of history and religious art.
Located in Oiã, in the municipality of Oliveira do Bairro, the church is an active place of worship and one of the churches with the most valuable collection in the municipality.
The church is located on Rua de Santo António and maintains a peaceful environment, ideal for those who appreciate the serenity of religious spaces and the beauty of sacred art.
