Station XIII is located in the heart of the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, in the very locality that gives it its name. Its location is defined by Rua Linha do Vouga, a street that extends through this urban area, also encompassing the zones of Travanca, Sanfins, and Espargo. The main station building is prominently positioned on the western side of the railway line, making it a recognizable feature in the local landscape.
The history of Station XIII is intrinsically linked to the development of the Vouga Line, a narrow-gauge railway that marked the region's progress in the early 20th century. Inaugurated on December 21, 1908, this station was a key point on the original route that aimed to connect Espinho to Torredeita. Its initial project's primary objective was to serve the city of Santa Maria da Feira, as well as the surrounding towns, adapting to the terrain to create a vital connection for the movement of people and goods at the time.
As an example of the railway architecture of its time, Station XIII features the typical characteristics of stations built at the beginning of the last century. The passenger building, dating back to its inauguration, is a testament to the functionality and predominant style of the era. Positioned at an altitude of approximately 162 meters above mean sea level, the station is located at a notable geographical point, highlighting the importance of the Vouga Line in the local transport panorama throughout its history.
