The history of the Cine-Teatro Messias dates back to its inauguration in 1950, the result of the vision of industrialist Messias Baptista, who gave it the name that endures to this day. Over the following decades, it was a vibrant center for performances, hosting plays, cinema, dances, and social events. However, in the 1990s, the building underwent a period of closure and was even used as a warehouse for local wine products. Its history took a new turn with a complete requalification and reinauguration in 2001, which modernized its facilities and returned this important cultural hub to Mealhada.
