The Parish Centre of Santo André de Mosteirô is located in the Proselha area, within the locality of Mosteirô, municipality of Santa Maria da Feira. Its position within this community offers a point of reference and a link to the local social and religious life. Integrated into the urban fabric, it is a landmark for those traversing the area's streets.
This considerably sized building dates back to the 18th century, having been erected to replace a previous church. Its architecture denotes a late-Baroque style, characteristic of the period in which it was built. The building's plan follows the Latin cross format, a classic configuration in religious architecture, comprising a main nave, a chancel, and two attached lateral annexes. The imposing bell tower rises, marking its presence in the local landscape.
The interior of the Parish Centre of Santo André de Mosteirô reveals remarkable artistic richness. Of particular note are the choir loft, the various chapels that make up the temple, and the majestic triumphal arch, all executed in stonework, demonstrating the mastery of the artisans of the time. The collateral altarpieces feature elements of the Joanine style, while the lateral altarpieces incorporate details of relief carving and panels exhibiting characteristics of the Mannerist style. The combination of different artistic periods is visible in how the ancient imagery is maintained and Mannerist and Baroque structures are reutilized in the lateral and collateral chapels, as well as in the composition of the main altarpiece.
