The Historic Centre of Pereira Jusã is located in the parish of Válega, in the municipality of Ovar. It is situated within a small urban core, surrounded by traditional buildings and a tranquil environment that maintains the character of old villages. The houses, narrow streets, and the presence of historical architectural elements lend the area a genuine atmosphere, far from the fast pace of urban centers.
The surroundings are marked by a mixed landscape of residences and agricultural land, reflecting the community's connection to working the land. Its central position within the locality makes it a natural point of passage for those traveling through the parish.
This nucleus preserves buildings and symbols that bear witness to the history of the former community, including the pillory, which recalls the administrative and judicial importance the locality held in past centuries. These elements not only evoke the social and political organization of yesteryear but also represent local identity.
The facades of the buildings, some with details of azulejo tiles and stone masonry, reveal traditional construction techniques and show signs of natural aging, adding character and authenticity to the scene.
The center conveys the feeling of a place where time has slowed down. The chapel, with its partial blue azulejo tiling and stone decoration, stands out as a prominent visual element. Adjacent to it, old buildings with simple volumes form a harmonious ensemble, albeit marked by the patina of time.
The presence of the pillory, erected on stone steps, adds verticality to the space and creates a photographic landmark. The surroundings, with low walls and trees, contribute to a picturesque setting, inviting a brief stop for observation.
