The Castro de Romariz is located in the parish of Romariz, in Santa Maria da Feira, being one of the most important archaeological sites in the region.
This fortified settlement dates back to the 5th century BC and was inhabited until the 1st century AD, providing insight into life in antiquity.
In 1980, excavations began which revealed the evolution of the settlement, with influences from both local and the Mediterranean world.
Many objects were found, such as ceramics, metals and coins, which show the commercial and cultural contacts of the time.
Two monetary treasures stand out, which indicate the wealth and importance of the site in the region's trade networks.
In 1945, the Castro de Romariz was recognised as a site of public interest, highlighting its historical relevance.
