Located in the Quinta da Fisga area, in the village of Daia, municipality of Castelo de Paiva, this manor house is set in a tranquil landscape, amidst green areas and scattered buildings. The surroundings are characterized by a rural landscape with open views and rolling hills, providing a calm and secluded atmosphere, yet with some proximity to local roads.
Its discreet position in an area with residential and agricultural characteristics reinforces the private character of the space, making it a point of interest, especially for those who appreciate tranquility and historical heritage set within a natural environment.
The Casa da Quinta da Fisga dates back to the 17th century, with its construction started in 1683 by Manuel Gouveia de Carvalho. Over the centuries, it has undergone several transformations, preserving elements from different periods. The current structure is the result of a fusion of a medieval tower-house with later interventions, which gives it a unique architectural character.
Since its origin, it has remained in the possession of the same family, which has contributed to the conservation of the building complex and its outdoor spaces, with special attention to maintaining the site's original identity.
The main building has a balanced composition, flanked by two turrets that give it an imposing presence. The oldest part, located on the right, includes a balcony and dates from the late 17th century. The left wing and the adjacent tower were added in the 20th century, respecting the overall architectural language.
One of the most distinctive elements is the private chapel, built in 1778, initially next to the building and later moved to the center of the courtyard. Also noteworthy are the gardens, which feature ornate Rococo-style fountains with allegorical figures of the seasons and a coat of arms, as well as the wall that borders the main entrance, which also displays features of this artistic style.
The outdoor spaces reveal the aesthetic care typical of manor houses, with well-defined courtyards and landscaped gardens featuring decorative elements of artistic value. The fountains, flowerbeds, and layout of the paths reinforce a sense of order and symmetry, creating an atmosphere conducive to contemplation and strolling.
These outdoor spaces maintain their historical layout and preserve the original spirit of the property, functioning as a natural extension of the house and contributing to the understanding of the complex as a testament to an era.
Since 1977, both the Casa da Quinta da Fisga and its gardens have been classified as properties of public interest. This distinction recognizes not only the architectural value of the complex but also its importance as a testament to local history and the family's continuity over the centuries.
This status contributes to the preservation of the site and reinforces its relevance within the built heritage of the municipality of Castelo de Paiva.
