Situated in the area of Avanca, in the locality of Arada, municipality of Estarreja, this chapel is set within a predominantly residential environment.
The chapel is set slightly away from the denser centre of the village, occupying its own space, partially paved, flanked by some smaller buildings.
Although its current structure reflects a significant renovation carried out in the 20th century, it is thought that the original chapel may date back to the 17th century.
The most recent intervention altered part of its initial characteristics, but fortunately maintained elements that refer to an older style, probably from the 18th century, visible in its exterior design.
The chapel features a simple rectangular plan, with a single nave and a sacristy attached to one side.
Externally, the stone frames surrounding the main portal and some windows stand out, as well as the treatment of the building's corners, which appear as pilasters topped with pyramidal pinnacles.
The main facade is topped by a bell gable with an arch, a characteristic element of more traditional chapels.
One of the notable details on the main facade is a tile panel placed between the entrance door and the upper window.
This panel, in shades of blue on a white background, illustrates the figure of the Savior and includes the inscription identifying the chapel. It is surrounded by a decorative frame with vegetal motifs.
Inside, the single nave features white-painted walls, complemented by a wooden wainscoting in the lower part.
The ceiling is a false barrel vault, also painted, which lends a sense of spaciousness to the area.
There is an upper choir above the entrance, with stair access, and the main altar area, slightly raised, includes an arch in the back wall and a small side niche.
