The Gafanha da Encarnação Nautical Association is located in the Marina Zone, a strategic spot in Gafanha da Encarnação, Ílhavo municipality. Positioned next to the well-known “Witch's Pier” (Cais da Bruxa), its location offers a unique perspective over the vast expanse of the Ria de Aveiro and the landscape of Costa Nova. This aquatic environment provides the location with a serene atmosphere, naturally suited for activities related to the sea and the lagoon.

The Origin of a Dream

The history of the Gafanha da Encarnação Nautical Association began on June 26, 1989. The inspiration for its creation came from the very landscape of the Ria de Aveiro and the view of Costa Nova, leading to the idealization of a space dedicated to nautical activities in Gafanha da Encarnação. Since its foundation, the association has been dedicated to creating ideal conditions for the development of nautical activities and for the enhancement of the stunning surrounding landscape. In January 2023, ANGE reinforced its role in the nautical context by integrating the network of Nautical Stations of Portugal and the Nautical Station of the Municipality of Ílhavo.

The Hub of Nautical Activity

This space functions as a recreational port, designed to accommodate vessels and provide an environment conducive to nautical leisure. One of the central objectives of the Gafanha da Encarnação Nautical Association is the promotion and encouragement of water sports, with a particular focus on sailing. It also seeks to instil interest in these activities and support younger generations. Its infrastructures provide support for these modalities and foster camaraderie, in communion with the maritime universe of the Ria de Aveiro.
