The Pesqueiro Pool is located in the coastal area of the city of Ponta Delgada, forming part of the Portas do Mar Complex. Its privileged position offers a unique perspective on maritime traffic and the activity of the local port, being in direct contact with the urban environment and the Atlantic waters.
This is a natural swimming pool, formed by the configuration of the coast itself and filled by seawater. It offers a swimming experience in a marine environment, but in a more sheltered space, distinct from an open beach. It is a place that allows visitors to enjoy the ocean in a particular setting.
To ensure the well-being of its users, the pool has various support facilities. It is a space frequented throughout the year, benefiting from conditions that aim to provide safety and comfort to visitors. Permanent surveillance contributes to a peaceful experience.
Given its location adjacent to the maneuvering area of the port of Ponta Delgada, the use of the Pesqueiro Pool is subject to certain conditions. For safety reasons, access to the pool is temporarily suspended during the docking or undocking maneuvers of large ships, allowing port activity to proceed without risk to swimmers.
