Located in the central area of Horta city, the space housing the OCEANIC STORE is set in a building approximately 200 years old.
The building was carefully restored, retaining original elements that reflect the island's traditional architecture, such as the prominent presence of stone and wood in its interiors.
The OCEANIC concept, of which the OCEANIC STORE is a part, was created as a convergence point for various communities connected to the marine environment and ocean exploration.
It serves as a meeting and sharing space for sailors arriving in Horta, scientific researchers, educators, naturalists, artists, and writers, reflecting a vibrant environment centered on marine culture and science.
The careful restoration of the historic building where the OCEANIC STORE is located preserved the beauty of its original features.
Elements such as stone and wood are dominant in the interior design, contributing to create a welcoming and characterful atmosphere that dialogues with the rich maritime history of the island and Horta itself.
