Location

Located in the peaceful parish of Ribeirinha, in the municipality of Lajes do Pico, the Barro & Barro studio is situated in a rural area marked by the presence of the sea and the imposing Pico mountain in the background. The natural surroundings are dominated by green fields, black stone walls, and small traditional houses, providing a serene and inspiring environment.

The area is not very busy, which favors a relaxed visit, ideal for calmly appreciating both the space and the surrounding landscape. The studio is housed in a simple yet welcoming home, harmoniously integrated into the landscape.

Creative and Welcoming Space

Barro & Barro is a small ceramics studio that combines artisanal tradition with contemporary expression. The atmosphere invites curiosity: handmade pieces are carefully arranged, allowing an intimate approach to the artistic work. It is possible to observe the diversity of colors, shapes, and textures, with emphasis on the use of local materials and attention to detail.

The space is managed by an artist of foreign origin who settled on the island, creating a bridge between different cultural influences and Azorean identity. Direct contact with the creator makes the visit more personal and enriching.

Identity and Originality

The pieces produced at Barro & Barro reflect a very unique creative approach, where each object has a distinct history and character. The works explore themes related to nature, daily life, and emotions, through a very accessible visual language.

More than a shop, this is a place to encounter art made with hands and time. Some visitors have the opportunity to participate in workshops or practical sessions, which reinforces the interactive aspect of the space and the value given to the process, beyond the final result.

Informal and Authentic Atmosphere

The atmosphere inside the studio is relaxed and intimate. The artist's warm welcome contributes to a more personal experience, allowing spontaneous conversations about techniques, inspirations, and island life.

Despite its modest size, the space conveys authenticity and care in every detail. This simplicity is part of its charm: the focus is on creation, sharing, and the connection between the maker and the visitor.
